asked the Minister for Defence if he will supply the following information in relation to Air Corps Alouette III helicopters; (i) the number of hours flown by each aircraft, (ii) the estimated air frame life of this type of helicopter in hours, (iii) the expected retirement date of each aircraft and (iv) if any plans have been made to replace any of these aircraft, in particular Numbers 195-197 which are now 17 years old; and if he will state the oldest aircraft in service.

: (i) In relation to the Alouette III helicopters, the number of hours flown by each of the aircraft is as follows:

(ii) There is no limitation to air frame life of this type of helicopter as long as spare parts and components are available.

(iii) These aircraft will continue to be used while they are serviceable.

(iv) The replacement of any of them is not at present contemplated.

(v) The oldest Alouette III helicopter in service with the Air Corp is No. 195, which has been in service since 1963.
