Vol. 324 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Publication of Reports.

29.

asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his policy in relation to the publication of all reports commissioned by his Department or other agencies funded in whole or in part by his Department; if he will introduce changes to the present arrangements to ensure that all such reports are published in future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It would not be necessary or desirable to publish all reports commissioned by the Department of Health or by individual health agencies. Many of these reports are commissioned with a view to achieving a specific administrative or policy objective and would not be of interest to the general public. However, it is the normal practice to publish, with Government approval, reports of major significance in this area.
