Written Answers. - Pension Fund Policy.

asked the Minister for Energy if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

In the case of the Electricity Supply Board, Bord na Móna, Bord Gáis Éireann and the Nuclear Energy Board there are statutory provisions which require my approval with the concurrence of the Minister for the Public Service of superannuation schemes. The Articles of Association of the Irish National Petroleum Corporation contain analogous provisions.

The regulations applicable to the superannuation schemes in the Electricity Supply Board and Bord na Móna also provide for ministerial approval of certain investments.

I am not in a position to provide the information requested in the time available. However, if the Deputy would like to repeat the question in three weeks I will consider the matter.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

Neither of the agencies under the aegis of my Department, namely the Agency for Personal Service Overseas and Gorta — the Freedom from Hunger Council of Ireland — operates pension funds but rather contributes to pension schemes offered by assurance and pension trust companies.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

No pension fund exists in relation to any semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of my Department.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

There is no semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of my Department.

asked the Minister for the Public Service if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

As the only agencies under the aegis of my Department are the Civil Service Commission and the Institute of Public Administration, the question is not relevant to my Department.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if she will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of her Department:— (1) if she is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

There are no pension funds operated by any body under the aegis of my Department.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

There is no semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of my Department which has a pension fund under its control.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will state in respect of each semi-State body or State agency under the aegis of his Department:— (1) if he is aware of and kept informed of the investment policy of the pension fund of each body, (2) the total capitalised value of the pension fund of each body, (3) the percentage of the capitalised value which is invested in office block accommodation, and (4) the number of office blocks that are owned in part or in whole by semi-State pension funds.

None of the State agencies under the aegis of my Department operates a funded pension scheme.

None of the semi-State bodies or State agencies under the aegis of my Department operates a pension fund.
