Vol. 324 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tralee Flooding.

303.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the Minister of State at his Department attended a special meeting of Tralee Urban District Council on 21 August 1980 in connection with the drainage of the river Lee and that recent flood waters in this river caused extensive damage to houses in the Ballymullen district of Tralee, County Kerry; and if he will now state when work is likely to commence on this scheme.

The Minister of State at my Department attended a meeting of Tralee Urban District Council on 21 August 1980 at which, among other things, drainage in the area was discussed.

I am aware that flooding occurred recently in the Ballymullen area.

While it is my intention to press on with the preparation of a comprehensive scheme for the River Lee catchment I cannot at this juncture state when works might commence.
