Vol. 324 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disability Benefit.

26.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the reason for the delay in the payment of disability benefit to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and in view of the urgent needs of this family, if he will direct that all payments be made and that steps be taken to avoid a recurrence of this delay.

The person concerned claimed disability benefit from 11 June 1979. As he has less than 156 contributions paid since his entry into insurance on 19 September 1970, his title to benefit was limited to 52 weeks. However, in error he was paid to 20 October 1980. In order to requalify for disability benefit it would be necessary for him to have the appropriate employment contributions paid in respect of him for a period of not less than 13 weeks of insurable employment.
