Vol. 324 No. 5

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

295.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he can accord some priority to the application for telephone service of a person (details supplied) in Dublin, in view of the fact that she is a widow living alone.

Before service can be provided for this applicant, cable will have to be laid in the area. Because of the volume of other engineering work on hands in the Dublin area at present, it is unlikely that the necessary cabling work will be carried out for at least a year. Service will be provided as soon as the cable is laid.

296.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason an applicant for transfer of telephone service (details supplied) in Dublin has not yet been offered service when other residents in the same estate who have not previously had telephone service have been offered service.

This application was made in March 1978. Those in the estate to whom service has been offered applied for service earlier than this. Provision of service for this applicant is dependent on installation of a new automatic exchange which is expected to be completed about the third quarter of 1981.
