The functions of the committee are to secure financial approval for projected airport works and to act as a medium for co-ordinating and reporting progress on planning and carrying out construction projects and the provision of equipment. |

National Civil Aviation Security Committee |
This committee was set up by the Government in 1974 to co-ordinate security measures for the State airports and to monitor performance. It has drawn up detailed procedures for dealing with hi-jacking and other incidents at the airports and with the hi-jacking of national aircraft anywhere. The committee monitors the work of local security committees at each airport |

Dublin Transportation Task Force. |
The Dublin Transportation Task Force was set up in April, 1980 to implement the Government decision to establish a Dublin Transportation Authority. Pending the establishment of the Authority, the Task Force has also been given responsibility for traffic management and for the future evaluation of road and rail investment plans for the Dublin area. |

Transportation Consultative Commission |
The Commission was set up in December 1978 with the broad task of reporting on the measures necessary to achieve the most efficient transportation system for goods and passengers for the country as a whole. |

Irish Marine Search and Rescue Committee |
To keep under review the general arrangements for marine search and rescue in Ireland, and to make recommendations for any improvements considered necessary, and also to consider as necessary liaison with neighbouring foreign search and rescue organisations and any regional search and rescue agreements in which Ireland is a participant. |
