Vol. 325 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Home Improvement Grants.

19.

asked the Minister for the Environment (1) when he received an application from a person (details supplied) in County Laois for a grant to reduce dependence on oil, (2) when the inspector from his Department called, (3) the amount of grant allocated and the estimate, (4) when notification of same was issued to the applicant and (5) when the grant will be paid.

The application was received on 30 January 1980 and the inspection was carried out on 9 September 1980. My Department's estimate of the cost of the works is £600 and arrangements are being made for the payment of a grant of £400 as soon as possible. Certificates of approval do no issue in respect of grants to reduce dependence on oil as inspection is done only when work is completed.

Question No. 20 is for written reply.

21.

asked the Minister for the Environment (1) when a person (details supplied) in County Laois applied for a home improvement grant, (2) when his Department's inspector called to allocate a grant, (3) whether a grant was allocated, (4) the estimate of the cost of the work and the amount of grant determined and (5) whether an inspector has as yet called to inspect and pass the work for grant payment, and, if not, why.

An application for a house improvement grant was received from the person named on 24 January 1980. Following an inspection on 31 October 1980 grants were approved on 20 November 1980 as follows: £600 for reconstruction work estimated to cost £8,603; £200 for provision of a private water supply estimated to cost £796 and £150 for the installation of private sewerage facilities estimated to cost £286. Notification of completion of the works has not been received in my Department and so a final inspection has not been arranged.

Question No. 22 has gone for written reply.
