Vol. 325 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tyndall Committee Funding.

357.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make funds available to the Tyndall Committee at the Regional Technical College, Carlow in the amount of £3,000 to enable the Committee to fund adequately an exhibition to commemorate this famous Irish scientist.

I understand that the Tyndall Committee has requested a sum of £3,000 towards the cost of preparing and mounting a permanent exhibition of the Tyndall experiments from the Board of Management of Carlow RTC. The board has requested that my Department sanction the award of a grant for this purpose and, in addition, it has suggested to the Tyndall Committee that they make application to various bodies for financial asistance. When the extent of the financial aid from the latter source is known, my Department will consider the request from the board of management further.
