asked the Minister for Education the present position with regard to Phase 1 of the two-room extension, comprising metal work and science rooms, at Carrick vocational school, County Donegal.

The latest information available to my Department from the County Donegal Vocational Education Committee regarding the two-room extension to Carrick vocational school indicates that the contractor expects to complete the project by the end of this month.

My Department approved the preparation of the bill of quantities and contract documents in respect of the extension to Raphoe vocational school in a letter dated 27 November 1980 to the chief executive officer of the County Donegal Vocational Education Committee.

My Department have agreed to provide a grant of £50,000 for the provision of an outdoor pursuits centre at Gartan, County Donegal. This grant figure which covers the building cost for the project submitted to my Department, is a maximum figure and it is not open to my Department to arrange for an increase.

My Department will, however, give full consideration to the provision of further assistance towards the furnishing of the completed centre in the event of additional appropriate funds being made available in the future.

366.

Showers and dressing rooms will be provided at Buncrana vocational school when the current building project there is completed and at Carrick vocational school as part of the proposed major extension.

An application for a new school building to replace the existing vocational school at Ballyshannon has been made to my Department and is being examined. Pending the completion of this examination, I am not in a position to comment on the possibility of showers and dressing rooms being provided.

368.
