asked the Minister for Health whether his Department have an estimate of the cost of the free inhaled drugs scheme as put forward to the Department last year by the Asthmatic Society of Ireland.

The cost is estimated at about £3 million a year but part of this would be saved by reduction in the demand in the drug refund scheme.

379.

asked the Minister for Health the total cost of the refund of drugs and medicine schemes for the last period in respect of which figures are available.

The cost in 1979 was £3.9 millions and in the current year is expected to be £6.2 millions.
