Vol. 325 No. 4

Written Answers. - BIM Boatyards.

387.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the dates negotiations commenced regarding the sale of Dingle, Baltimore and Killybegs boatyards; the date each sale was agreed; and the date each sale will be completed.

Negotiations regarding the sale of the boatyards at Dingle, Baltimore and Killybegs commenced late February/early March 1979.

The date each sale was agreed for individual boatyards were as follows: Dingle, 2 August 1979; Baltimore, 16 May 1979; Killybegs, 18 June 1979. The sale in respect of Dingle was completed on November 22 1979.

The sale in respect of Killybegs and Baltimore will be completed on the handing over of the leases and the registration of the mortgage debentures which have been signed by the purchasers in favour of the board. These are delayed pending the final acquisition of the freehold interest which will enable BIM to comply validly with the terms of the contracts in relation to the leases.

388.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the amount of mortgage debenture in favour of Bord Iascaigh Mhara charged against Baltimore Boatyard Company Ltd.; and the reason it is not registered.

It is not the practice to give details of financial arrangements with private individuals or companies. The total loans secured in favour of Bord Iascaigh Mhara on all three yards amounted to £519,000. The mortgage debenture in respect of Baltimore yard has not been registered to date pending finalisation of the acquisition of the freehold interest.
