Vol. 325 No. 5

Written Answers. - Housing Grant Payments.

380.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a housing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

My Department's records show that a housing grant was previously paid to a person of the same name and address. The applicant, therefore, was asked to say whether the payment was made to him and when he replies his application will be further considered.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a housing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry.

There has been no undue delay in this case. Following a recent inspection the grant will be paid as soon as possible.

382.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a housing reconstruction grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as all outstanding work has now been completed.

The Deputy's question is the first intimation my Department have received that work has been completed. The grant will be paid when an inspection confirms that work has been satisfactorily completed. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

383.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a reconstruction grant, due since February 1980, has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; when he intends to pay this grant; and the reason no acknowledgement or reply issued to this person's letters of 5 September, 23 October and 15 November 1980.

A grant could not be paid without a final inspection to establish whether the work had been satisfactorily completed. The applicant wrote to my Department on 5 August 1980 saying that the work had been virtually completed but there is no record, despite an exhaustive search, of any subsequent notification that the work had been fully completed. An inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of a grant, if in order.
