Vol. 325 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Cork Housing Loans.

275.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether he is aware of difficulties in obtaining housing loans from Cork County Council; and if he will make sufficient funds available to the council to enable them to issue loan sanctions.

I am not aware of any delay in the issue of housing loan approvals due to the lack of finance by Cork County Council. I am informed by the council that, in the period 1 January to 12 December 1980 887 loan approvals valued at £9.9 million were issued. The council propose to approve a further 26 loans valued at £258,000 before the end of December to bring the total number of loans approved during the year to 913 with a value of £10.16 million. This compares with 796 loans valued at £6.72 million approved in 1979.
