I stated in reply to a Question in this House on 5 June 1980 that it was proposed to have work carried out in 1980 at a number of fishery harbours in South-West Cork, including Schull Harbour, based on the information available to me. The Minister for Finance, however, in reply to a further Question on 21 October 1980, indicated that on the information then available it would not be possible to invite tenders for the work before the spring of 1981.
The work has to be put to tender and the preparation of the necessary documents, etc., is a matter for the Office of Public Works. I understand that pressure of work in that office has delayed the preparation of documents
