Vol. 326 No. 4

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Item No. 6 (Resumed). Private Members' Business will be taken between 7.00 p.m. and 8.30 p.m., No. 81 by agreement.

I would ask the Taoiseach whether he proposes to give Government time for discussion of the motion down in my name.

The Deputy is not in order in asking that question.

It is on the Order of Business.

I agree that it is on the Order of Business but I do not propose to permit the Deputy to move the motion today.

Would the Ceann Comhairle say when he proposes to allow me to move the motion?

The Standing Order requires that the motion be received before 11.00 a.m. on the fourth preceding day. The Deputy's motion was received only yesterday afternoon and in the circumstances I do not propose to allow it to be taken at such short notice. If he so wishes, the Deputy may raise it in a week's time.

I would ask the Taoiseach when it is his intention to introduce a Bill to amend the Trade Disputes Act, 1906, as promised in the national understanding?

That is under consideration.

Will the Taoiseach give more consideration to this subject than the Minister for Labour has given?

We cannot have a discussion on this matter.
