Vol. 326 No. 5

Written Answers. - Sight Tests and Spectacle Prescriptions.

7.

asked the Minister for Health the reason for the withdrawal of the scheme whereby health board patients could obtain sight-tests and prescriptions for spectacles from a qualified person in private practice; and how long he anticipates that such patients will now have to wait for this service.

The scheme has not been withdrawn. However, the issue of authorisations for sight tests was suspended temporarily by the Southern Health Board in late 1980 to ensure that it kept within its financial allocation. The issue of authorisations was resumed at the beginning of January 1981.
