Vol. 326 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - National Building Agency.

17.

asked the Minister for the Environment the action he proposes to take on the report of the Joint Committee on State-Sponsored Bodies in relation to the National Building Agency.

Immediately after this report was published I discussed the contents with the chairman of the board of directors and the managing director of the agency. I am satisfied that appropriate action is being taken by the board to give effect to the recommendations of the Joint Committee and I intend to keep progress in relation to the matter under regular review.

I want the Minister to give me an answer. Why were these letters not answered? This is a legitimate question.

Will the Deputy give me a moment, please?

This is not a hooky question about late applications——

I have given the Deputy a very fair hearing. It is not my responsibility to have a Minister answer in a particular form. I ask the Deputy to please resume his seat. I have given him the opportunity of asking several supplementary questions. If he is not satisfied with the Minister's answer, he has a means at his disposal by which he can raise it. In fairness to the Chair, the Deputy should accept that the Chair is not responsible for the Minister's replies. I must proceed with Questions and I ask the Deputy to accept that.

I wish to raise this matter on the Adjournment.
