Vol. 326 No. 8

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

186.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if he will confirm that a person (details supplied) in County Monaghan applied for a solid fuel grant; the date on which the application was received in his Department; whether his Department has been informed that the work has been completed; whether the installation has been inspected by an inspector of his Department; when the grant will be paid, and the reason for the delay to date.

An application was received in the Department from the person named on 16 January 1980. Further necessary documentation requested from the applicant was furnished on 31 October 1980. The work has been inspected and a grant will be paid soon. There has been no undue delay by my Department in dealing with this case.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Cavan applied for a £1,000 new house grant and, if so, the dates on which (a) his application and (b) the notification that the house was completed were received in his Department; and when it is proposed to pay the grant; and the reason for the delay to date.

An application for a new house grant was received in the Department on 22 November 1979, and a notification of completion of the work on 22 September 1980. An inspection has established that a grant is in order and payment will be made shortly.

There has been no undue delay in the Department in dealing with this case. The delay between the receipt of the application and the first inspection was due to the delay on the part of the applicant in submitting all necessary information.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment whether a person (details supplied) in County Cavan applied for a £1,000 new house grant and, if so, the dates on which (a) his application and (b) the notification that the house was completed were received in his Department; when it is proposed to inspect the house and pay the grant; and the reason for the delay to date.

An application for a new house grant was received from the person named on 20 March 1980, and notification of completion of the house on 23 September 1980. An inspection established that work had not then been fully completed and a further inspection had to be arranged. Arrangements have now been made for payment of the grant. There has been no undue delay in my Department in dealing with this case.

189.

(Cavan-Monaghan) asked the Minister for the Environment whether a person (details supplied) in County Cavan applied for a home improvement grant; if so, if he will give particulars of any payments made on account; when it is proposed to pay the balance of the grant; and the reason for the delay to date.

An application was received in my Department from a person of the same surname and address, but with a different Christian name from that mentioned by the Deputy. The other information requested is not available in that case as the file is with the inspector for investigation and report with a view to payment of a grant, if in order. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible. Any delay in dealing with this case is due to the huge number of applications being processed in the Department.
