Vol. 327 No. 2

Written Answers. - Leixlip (Kildare) By-pass.

293.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the Kildare County Council submitted a plan to him for a new road to by-pass Leixlip; and, if so, where the road will link with the proposed Lucan by-pass.

I have received outline proposals from Kildare County Council for a new road which provides for the section of a by-pass of Leixlip within its administrative area. Due to the location of the Dublin/Kildare county boundary a new road providing for a by-pass of Leixlip requires co-ordinated planning by the county councils. I have received outline proposals from Dublin County Council for a by-pass of Lucan. The outline proposals of the councils are being examined in my Department and it is intended to arrange for joint discussions with the officers of the councils to secure co-ordination of planning.

Pending completion of that examination I am not in a position to indicate where the Leixlip by-pass will link with the Lucan by-pass.
