Vol. 327 No. 9

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

8.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

Service will be provided shortly. Because of an unforeseen technical problem, it was not possible to provide service to this applicant within the normal time after completion of the agreement.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in repairing the only two kiosks which serve Willington, Osprey, Rushbrook and Kennington housing estates, Templeogue, Dublin 12, as they have been out of order since before Christmas, 1980.

I assume the question refers to the public telephones at Osprey Road and Orwell Park Estate. Both kiosks were extensively damaged early in December 1980. Repairs, which involved replacement of the equipment, were completed in early February. Both boxes suffered further damage subsequently and they were replaced recently by boxes of a more durable design.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when telephones will be connected for the applicants in Willington, Osprey, Rushbrook and Kennington estates, Templeogue, Dublin 12, many of whom applied five years ago; and the exchange to which they will be connected.

Service to these estates is dependent on the provision of cabling which it is expected will be completed later this year. Service will be offered to waiting applicants as the necessary cable becomes available. Depending on their location applicants will be connected to existing exchanges at Tallaght and Terenure and to the new exchange to be provided at Crumlin later this year.
