Vol. 327 No. 10

Written Answers. - Nenagh (Tipperary) Hospital.

355.

asked the Minister for Health if he will arrange for the early sanction of the tender for the urgently needed extension to the X-ray department in Nenagh County Hospital, County Tipperary.

The extension of the X-ray department is one of a number of developments planned for the County Hospital at Nenagh. It is for example planned to provide a new maternity unit there. A project team has in fact been set up to consider the provision of the new maternity unit. The project team has decided that it is necessary to take into account the entire future operational policy of the County Hospital, Nenagh, in planning the maternity unit. A development control plan for the entire hospital is therefore being prepared. When it has been completed and considered the question of allowing work to proceed on the extension of the X-ray department will be considered.
