Vol. 327 No. 11

Written Answers. - Civil Service Transfers.

184.

asked the Minister for the Public Service the number of civil servants employed in Government offices in Dublin city and county who have applied for transfers to offices in the western counties.

Most of the transfer applications within the civil service originate with the clerical grades and it is a matter for each Department to deal with such applications in accordance with arrangements agreed at general council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme.

So far as the staff of my Department are concerned, I understand that four officers have applied for transfer to other Departments which have local offices in the western counties. No information is available in regard to officers who may resign from the civil service in order to take up other employment in provincial areas.
