Vol. 328 No. 1

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway City Water Scheme.

29.

asked the Minister for the Environment when it is anticipated that work will start on the Galway City west environs water scheme which is needed urgently, in view of the shortage of potable water in that area.

I recently approved contract documents submitted by Galway County Council for the Galway City West Environs Water Supply Scheme. It is now a matter for the County Council to advertise for tenders for the scheme and to arrange for the commencement of work. I understand that work should commence on this scheme during the latter part of 1981.

What was the cost?

It is estimated the scheme will cost £1.6 million.
