asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give an estimate of the average rise in the cost of building land since the publication seven years ago of the Kenny Report on building land.

According to a report published by An Foras Forbartha in April 1980 entitled Land Transactions and Prices in the Dublin Area 1974-1978 changes in prices paid per acre for undeveloped sites for private housing land in the Dublin Area between 1974 and 1978 were as shown in table hereunder. The figures for 1979 and 1980 are preliminary estimates prepared by An Foras.

Information published in the Department's Quarterly Bulletin of Housing Statistics shows that the average price per acre paid for land acquired by agreement by local authorities for housing increased from £2,372 to £6,811, an Increase of 187 per cent between 1973 and 1980.
