The total number of redundancies notified to my Department as qualified under the Redundancy Payments Acts, 1967 to 1979 during the period June 1977 to January 1981, inclusive, was 41,182. The number included for the June/December 1977 seven month period is partly estimated because figures were not kept by the Department on a monthly basis at that time.
