asked the Minister for Defence if he will have experts examine the Norwegian Horten class auxiliary vessel with a view to having a similar vessel built here to replace L.E. Setanta; if he accepts that a vessel with substantial accommodation is required both for training and for auxiliary duties; and if he considers that such a vessel could be built here in view of our successful adaptation of other Norwegian designs.

As my predecessor stated in the House on 19 June 1980, it is not proposed to acquire another ship similar to L.E. Setanta. The training of Naval Service personnel at sea is carried out on the minesweepers and patrol vessels.

This includes 35 officers serving in departmental grades in the Office of the Revenue Commissioners who are seeking transfers to the Revenue Commissioners' offices in Galway city.

There are no applications from the staff of my Department for transfer to Galway city. In regard to the staff of the Civil Service Commission one application for such a transfer has been received.
