Vol. 328 No. 3

Written Answers. - Company Investigation.

377.

asked the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism if he is aware of a report (details supplied) concerning a firm (details supplied) in County Dublin which was the subject of an inquiry by the office of the Director of Consumer Affairs; and if his Department requested the director and the appropriate State agencies to investigate the changed situation of this company with a view to taking action on the matter.

I am aware of the report referred to by the Deputy. As I indicated in reply to a previous question in connection with this company (volume 325, columns 65-67 of the Official Report), the matter has been brought to the attention of the Director of Consumer Affairs. I understand from the director that his investigations are continuing and that he would welcome the receipt of any specific complaints or information which members of the public may wish to bring to his attention or which the Deputy may have in his possession to assist him in his investigation.

Finally, I would suggest to the Deputy that if he or any person who has had dealings with the company feel that there is evidence to suggest that Garda inquiries should be initiated in the matter, then of course it is open to them to make a complaint to the Garda authorities.
