Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - State Forest Timber.

248.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry why, in view of the request made to his Department following the reply to Question No. 14 of 5 February 1981, details have not been supplied of the locations at which timber from State forests can be purchased by the public for use as fuel.

I am sorry that there has been a delay in communicating with the Deputy in this instance. However, I may say, in response to his inquiry, that there is availability of supplies of fuelwood in the form of standing conifer thinnings at most forests at various times depending on crop management needs. Information on availability is generally well known locally and there has been no need to advertise such material nationally. I am arranging to have information on availability of such material forwarded to the Deputy as quickly as possible.
