Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Telegram Delivery.

269.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason a telegram sent from Leinster House (details supplied) took four days to arrive at its destination in Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The telegram concerned was an "overnight" one. It was handed in about 5.00 pm on Thursday, 12 March and in ordinary course would have been delivered by first post on the following day. Because an incorrect Dublin district number was given for the addressee, the telegram was sent to the wrong District Office. There is no postal delivery in Dublin on Saturday or Sunday and the telegram was not delivered until the following Monday.
