Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Water Rates Waiver.

302.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will instruct county councils to waive the collection of water rates from old age pensioners.

Under existing legislation it is entirely a matter for each county council to fix the charges to be made by them for the supply of water for any purpose including domestic purposes.

I understand, however, that Cork (S) County Council does in fact make a reduced water charge in the case of old age pensioners.
