Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Galway By-pass Plans.

316.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state in respect of the plans submitted to him by Galway County Council for a by-pass at Oranmore, County Galway, whether individuals who are dissatisfied with the plans have the right to object to them; and, if so, the procedure involved.

I have not yet received plans from Galway County Council for a by-pass of Oranmore.

If a road authority is unable to acquire by agreement the lands required for such a project, it is open to them to make a compulsory purchase order and to submit it to me for confirmation. Before submitting such an order for confirmation, the council must give public notice that the order has been made and is about to be so submitted and must advise the landowners accordingly. Advance public notice would also be given of the time and place of any public local inquiry into objections received by me against confirmation of the order and it would be open to each objector to be present and/or represented at the inquiry.
