Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Marine Outflow Scheme.

348.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in sanctioning the Dungarvan marine outflow scheme, County Waterford, as the proposal has been with his Department for over a year.

Contract documents for the Dungarvan marine outflow scheme are under consideration in my Department. The urban council's proposals for the scheme have to be considered in the context of the overall resources available for the water and sewerage programme and the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at present including the Dungarvan main drainage scheme extension from Father Twomey's road to Ringnasillogue and the Tramore sewerage scheme. I cannot say when I will be in a position to convey a decision thereon to the local authority.
