Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Drivers' Allowances.

402.

asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry the current scale of (a) subsistence and (b) travelling allowances applicable to drivers of tankers and plant.

The Department of Fisheries and Forestry do not employ tanker drivers. With regard to plant it is assumed that the Deputy is referring to machine operators. These operators qualify for a commuted travel/subsistence allowance of £17.50 per week provided they operate outside the area of their home forests and at least ten miles from their homes. The allowance is paid irrespective of whether the operators stay away from home or travel to or from their homes to their field of operation.
