Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Fishing Port Agreements.

407.

asked the Minister for Transport if further to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 371 of 24 March 1981 he will give details of the provisions of the two consecutive agreements recorded at fishing ports in Counties Dublin, Waterford, Cork, Donegal and Louth.

The Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, requires the skipper of every Irish fishing boat of 25 tons gross tonnage or upwards to enter into an agreement with every seaman whom he carries to sea as one of his crew. The agreement is required to be in a prescribed form and a copy of this form can be made available to the Deputy if he so wishes.

If the Deputy would furnish fuller particulars of the information required, I will endeavour to ascertain the position and advise him by letter.
