Vol. 328 No. 8

Written Answers. - Land Reclamation.

157.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that farmers who seek to have land reclamation work approved under the western drainage scheme have to wait in some instances for over 12 months in order to obtain approval; if he will explain why; and the proposals he has to prevent delays.

Due to the attractive level of grant under the Western Drainage Scheme there has been an unprecedented volume of applications from farmers. As a result some delays in their processing is inevitable.

Applications are being dealt with in strict order of receipt and every effort is being made to keep delays to minimum.
