asked the Minister for Health the number of persons in County Mayo (a) who have medical cards and (b) who are disqualified from holding medical cards as a result of the last review; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On 31 December 1980 there were 38,439 medical cards current, an increase of 660 compared with 31 December 1979. During 1980 6,360 medical cards were withdrawn or cancelled in the course of the continuing review of medical cards which the health board undertake.
