Vol. 328 No. 9

Written Answers. - All-Irish Primary Schools.

340.

asked the Minister for Education the number of sites for all-Irish primary schools purchased with a 100 per cent grant from his Department; the location of these and of any such proposed new schools approved by his Department, for which 100 per cent site cost grants will be forthcoming in due course; and when he expects the relevant grants will be paid in each case.

Sites have been made available free of charge in the case of six all-Irish national schools in the Dublin area. The legal arrangements for the purchase of a site in Bray are well advanced and it is envisaged that the Department will be in a position to pay the grant in the near future. A report is awaited from the Commissioners of Public Works on a site offered in Tralee. It is not possible to state when a grant may be paid.

Where management authorities are not already in possession of sites, or where existing school buildings are not available for use for such schools, full-cost grants will be provided for suitable sites which may be offered in areas where the need for permanent schools is clearly established.
