Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tullamore (Offaly) Secondary Schools.

21.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the extension to St. Columba's Christian Brothers secondary school, Tullamore, County Offaly; if he is aware that in January 1981 the school was inspected by an architect and inspector from his Department's building unit and that they prepared a report; if the report was submitted and, if so, the action taken thereon; the progress made to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Following an inspection of the Christian Brothers' secondary school, Tullamore, by officers of my Department, a schedule of accommodation for the proposed extension was prepared and has been agreed with the manager.

Architectural planning of the project was initiated at a briefing meeting held in my Department on 24 April 1981.

22.

asked the Minister for Education the present position regarding the extension to the Sacred Heart secondary school, Tullamore County Offaly; if he received working drawings for the project from the school manager on 27 January 1981; and, if so, the progress made to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The working drawings for the extension to the Sacred Heart secondary school, Tullamore were received on 27 January 1981. Certain amendments and additional information sought by my Department were received on 6 April 1981. As the working drawings are now in order, the school authorities have been authorised to proceed to the preparation of the bills of quantities.

Is the Minister aware of the urgency regarding the extension to the Sacred Heart secondary school, Tullamore? Can he give assurances to the House that there will be no further delays in the building of this extension?

There certainly will not be.
