Vol. 328 No. 11

Written Answers. - House Improvement Grant.

203.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will state the reasons for the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 351 on 24 February 1981 regarding the application for a house improvement grant in the name of a person (details supplied) in County Waterford which indicated that there was no record in his Department of an application when in fact, the applicant received a letter dated 2 August 1979 from his Department acknowledging the receipt of the application, a copy of which has been furnished to him; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A further search of the Department's records has failed to locate an application for a house improvement grant from the person named. However, in view of the evidence now submitted, I am prepared to accept that such an application was received.

Accordingly, the Department's inspector is being asked to inspect the house and furnish a report, on receipt of which the applicant's eligibility for a grant will be further considered.
