Vol. 328 No. 12

Written Answers. - Grant Payment.

210.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is aware of the delay in the payment of a housing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; if he will take steps to ensure that payment is made immediately; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An application for a house improvement grant was not received from the person named until 15 February 1980. As the closing date for the receipt of applications was 1 February 1980, payment of a grant cannot be considered. The applicant was informed accordingly on 21 March 1980.

211.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a housing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; when the grant will be paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There has been no undue delay on the part of the Department in dealing with this case. Further consideration of the case is deferred pending receipt of a reply from the applicant to my Department's letter of 2 February 1981 regarding the date of commencement of the work or the date of purchase of materials, whichever is appropriate.

212.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reasons for the delay in paying a housing grant to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Any delay in this case has been caused by the large volume of applications received. A grant will be paid when evidence of planning permission is furnished by the applicant and an inspection establishes that the work has been satisfactorily completed and is in order for payment. The inspection will be carried out shortly.
