asked the Minister for the Environment why a reconstruction grant has not been paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a reconstruction grant from the person named. An application for a solid fuel grant was, however, received from him on 1 February 1980 and this grant was paid on 2 December 1980.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. The inspection will be carried out as soon as possible.

The applicant has been asked to furnish a house plan, site map, specification, evidence of receipt of planning permission and information about the ownership of the house, but to date he has not done so. When these documents and information are received in my Department the application for a grant will be further processed.

On the basis of the information provided, my Department are unable to trace an application for a new house grant from the person named. If the Deputy confirms the name of the builder, the name and address under which the application was made and the location of the new house, I will arrange to have a further investigation carried out.

These grants will be paid shortly.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with. An inspection will be arranged when notification is received in my Department that work outstanding at the time of previous inspections in December 1980 and February 1981 has been carried out.

275.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny which is owed for some time.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the applicant is occupying the house as his normal place of residence. The house was unoccupied when inspected in November 1980 and March 1981.

When notification is received in my Department that the applicant is occupying the house as his normal place of residence, a further inspection will be arranged.

276.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work has been completed as requested by the Department's inspector one and a half years ago.

A reconstruction grant was allocated on 10 October 1975 in this case under the former scheme of grants. However, as the work had not been completed by 31 December 1978, payment is now precluded by section 23 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979.
