120.

asked the Minister for Education when finance will be allocated to provide an additional classroom at St. Ainin's national school, Galway, because of the severe over-crowding there.

The Commissioners of Public Works have been requested to prepare sketch-plans for the extension of St. Ainin's national school, Roscahill, County Galway. The question of a grant will be considered when a sketch plan and cost plan have been approved.

It is not possible to state at this stage when a contract for the building work may be placed.

122.

asked the Minister for Education when his Department will allocate money for the reconstruction of Carnmore national school, County Galway.

Sketch-plans have been prepared and a grant has been sanctioned for the building of a new school at Carnmore.

123.

asked the Minister for Education the number and location of national schools in County Galway which are in need of repairs; and the plans the Government have to carry out such repairs.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply on 6 May 1981 to a question by Deputy Collins concerning substandard schools in which I referred to a current re-examination of procedures so as to ensure that essential improvements which were not of a major or structural nature would be done where necessary during the summer holidays.
