Vol. 329 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

1.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed group water scheme for Inishmean, Aran Islands, County Galway.

This scheme which is to serve 50 households is estimated to cost £275,000 and allowing for grants and the personal contributions of the members the deficit on the scheme would be £186,000.

Galway County Council were asked to give favourable consideration to the making of a special contribution of £186,000 to the group, towards the cost of headworks but the council have indicated that they are not in a position to consider the proposed subvention because of the financial commitments already made in the current year for special contributions to group water schemes.

2.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the proposed Tully group sewerage scheme, Connemara, County Galway.

Revised plans for this group sewerage scheme have been cleared by my Department and have been submitted to Galway County Council for their approval.
