The house in question is one of a number purpose built by the local authority for the accommodation of disabled persons. In accordance with section 17 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1979, local authorities have been directed to exclude purpose built dwellings for elderly or disabled persons from their sales schemes. In the circumstances it is not open to the local authority to sell the house to which the Deputy's question refers.
