Written Answers. - County Waterford Schools.

49.

asked the Minister for Education when it is expected that work on the new school at Aglish, Cappoquin, County Waterford will commence; and the likely date of completion.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that the proposed site has been found satisfactory and that sketch plans for the proposed new primary school at Aglish, Cappoquin, County Waterford, are being prepared at present. At this stage it is not possible to state when work on the new school may commence.

asked the Minister for Education when it is anticipated that work on the extension to Ballinameela national school, County Waterford will commence: and when it is expected that the work will be completed.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that they are at present engaged in a feasibility study to determine whether the proposed extension to Whitechurch National School, Ballinameela, can be accommodated on the existing restricted school site.

At this stage it is not possible to say when work on the extension may commence.

asked the Minister for Education when it is expected that work on the extension to Glenbeg national school, Dungarvan, County Waterford will commence; and when it is anticipated that the work in question will be completed.

The reverend chairman of the board of management of the school was informed in a letter of 9 Meitheamh 1981 of certain improvements to the premises which might be grant-aided by my Department and also of works of a maintenance nature which would not be eligible for grant.

I am giving further consideration to the matter in the context of the representation to me that an extension to the premises is also required to meet the accommodation needs of the school and in the light of advice received by me from the Office of the Commissioners of Public Works. I expect to be in a position to make a decision in the case within a week or so.
