Under the voluntary restraint agreement on sheepmeat between New Zealand and the European Community imports from New Zealand to the Community are limited to 245,000 tonnes annually. This voluntary restraint agreement, which will remain in force until 31 March 1984, also provides that imports from New Zealand into particular markets of the Community deemed to be sensitive must be limited to traditional quantities. For purposes of the agreement both the Irish and French markets have been classified as sensitive. As there has been no traditional trade in New Zealand sheepmeat with this country the question of imports under the agreement does not arise.
