Whilst grants were available under the western drainage scheme to agricultural co-operatives in 1979 and 1980 for the purchase of drainage machinery, this part of the scheme terminated on 31.12.80 in accordance with the provisions of the relevant EEC directive on which the scheme is based. Under the terms of the directive individuals did not qualify for this aid.
