Vol. 329 No. 7

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

80.

asked the Minister for the Environment if the technical problems in the design of the Oranmore sewerage scheme which have arisen between his Department and Galway County Council have been resolved; and, if so, when the scheme will commence.

A meeting took place between members of the technical staff of Galway County Council and my Department on 15 July 1981. Galway Council are carrying out certain technical investigations, the result of which are to be submitted to my Department. A further meeting to finalise the design for the sewage disposal arrangements will then be arranged between the technical advisers of the council and of my Department.

Once the technical aspects of Phase I of this scheme have been decided and approved Galway County Council may then proceed to prepare contract documents. At this stage it is not possible to say when the scheme is likely to commence.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the Knockaroo group water supply scheme, Borris-in-Ossory, County Laois.

There is no record in my Department of a group scheme proposal to cater for this area.

82.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position regarding the Cappillinan group water supply scheme, Rathdowney, County Laois; the number of houses that will be serviced; and the area that will be covered by the scheme.

This scheme proposes to serve nine houses in the Cappilinan-Harris-town area. The source for the scheme is a well which when tested was found to have a high iron content and it was considered that a further analysis of the water was necessary. The results of further analysis are awaited in my Department from Laois County Council.
