Vol. 330 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drogheda Water Scheme.

418.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will approve the proposals which have been submitted by Drogheda Corporation for the laying of larger water mains in Donore Road, James Street and Dublin Road, Drogheda, County Louth in order to facilitate an increase in the water supply to the Stameen area.

The local authority's proposals for this scheme must be considered in the context of the amount of capital available for the overall water and sewerage programme and of the number of schemes in progress or getting to construction at the present time for which adequate finance must be provided. I cannot at present say when I will be in a position to convey a decision on the local authority's proposals for this scheme.
